Violet's old deck has reached the end of its life, so this one starts with a full teardown. We'll haul off the existing structure, inspect and reset the footings, then rebuild from the ground up — new framing, new decking, and fresh finish details.

Day one — teardown is done

Today we tore the old deck off the house. The boards were split and rotted, the framing was sagging, and the stairs had pulled loose — nothing worth saving. Everything came off down to bare dirt so the new build starts on a clean, level footprint. Follow along for updates as framing goes up.

Still in progress. The roof structure is framed and the metal is going on now, and the crew is installing the railings and spindles along the deck. Stairs and final details are next — check back for the next update.

Finished — Violet's new covered deck is done

Violet's build is complete. The covered deck runs the length of the back of the home with a metal roof, full spindle railings, and two sets of stairs — one off the door and one off the end of the deck. From a torn-off, rotted deck to a finished covered build, all in a few days of work.
